Last Saturday Iris was at the start of the 21,2k in , the Netherlands. With over 1700 participants it was crowded at the start!
Iris: ‘It was really windy and I knew upfront the parcourse would be also a lot off-road, so I didn’t expect any personal records. Next to that: I did on Thursday an intensive resistance training, so my muscles were still quit sore. Because it was crowded at the start, it was all a bit push&pull the first kilometre. But after 1k the participants were more widely spread and I could find my own pace. It was a beautiful scenery with a lot of small gravel roads, trough the fields and woods. I even saw some Highland Cows! Luckily they stood behind barbed wire, so I wouldn’t have to face them very closely. I stopped at 10k and 15k shortly to drink something, furthermore I had a fine pace. I was impressed about all the enthusiastic people on the side of the road, that was really motivating. Although at the finish line it was less, haha. In the end I had a time of 1.51 which is obviously not a PR, however I do have a nice medal and it was a really good run. So I can stripe off another half marathon from my list!’
