Next Sunday both Iris and Titia are joining the Elite wave of the Strong Viking close to Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
Another 19+ kilometers is waiting for them. According to the website it’s a flat landscape and promising to be a fast course with a high average speed. However, according to the previous experience of the ladies: it can be still steep at certain points. Especially the ski-hill halfway through the course. And also because it’s a mud-themed run, with a lot of sticky mud and deep trenches, it’s going to slow them down. A benefit of the location, is the fact that the OCR Series World Finals in June will take place there. So it’s a great opportunity to size-up the area and test the course!
Although Iris already finished several Strong Viking races, sometimes even 2 at the same day, she never signed up for the Elite starting wave. That means she will start in a blue vest and need to bridge a cap first towards the front. It’s going to be a challenge to stick within the tight time slot and stay in front of the sweeper, but worth a try!
Titia is starting in the yellow vest again and can climb as one of the first over the wall and start front row, although the time of the winners of last year (2.05) seems a bit out of her league. Especially with the complete marathon coming up one week after this race.
However, a great challenge is laying in front of both Iris and Titia to get as much out of this race as possible!
